TUGAS DATA MINING : BMP, JPEG, GIFF, TIFF,PNG dan TGA

File extension JPG description:

File extension jpg is related to JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) image file format is mostly used for bitmap images (photos, pictures etc.). Loss JPEG compression significantly reduces image file size and high compression level also quality of image. JPEG is the best image format for photos and pictures with high number of colors for use on the internet or e-mail.
JPEG is a bitmap compression format for images. The proper abbreviation is JPEG, but DOS-based computers could only take a 3-character extension, so you will often see the shortened version: JPG. JPEG is based on a 24-bit color palette, but it is lossy, which means that it drops information that is compressed out. Compression ratios may range from 10:1 to 20:1 and most graphic application programs (such as Adobe Photoshop) allow you to choose the compression rate. Obviously, the more compressed, the more data is lost, but the less compressed the larger the files size of the image. It takes considerable experience and skill to play around with different modes and pallettes as well as compression ratios to get a good quality result with a relatively small JPEG file size. JPEG is typically used for complex images and photographs. It supports 16.7 million colors.

File extension BMP description:

BitMaPped graphic - standard, non-compressed bit-mapped graphics format used in the Windows.
BMP files store graphics in a format called device-independent bitmap (DIB).
Bitmap images, also called raster images, use a grid (the bitmap or raster) of small squares known as pixels to represent images. Each pixel is assigned a specific location and color value.

File extension GIF description:

Graphics interchange file format - standard bit-mapped graphics file format used by the World Wide Web developed by CompuServe in the late 1980s.
GIF supports 256 (216-on IBM-based monitors) levels of color.

File extension TIFF description:

Tagged Image File Format - one of the most widely supported lossless (does not lose information during compression) file formats for storing bit-mapped images (both PCs and Macintosh computers).
TIFF graphics can be any resolution, in black and white, gray-scaled, or color. Is used un-compressed or LZW compressed.
Many different formats (Uncompressed, Huffman compressed, Jpeg,LZW,CCITT3/4, G3 FAX, G4 FAX, Packed Bits).

File extension PNG description:

Portable Network Graphics file format - a new bit-mapped graphics format similar to GIF. Approved as a standard by the WWW consortium to replace GIF because GIF uses a patented data compression algorithm called LZW. In contrast, PNG is completely patent- and license-free. Only the previous versions of Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer supported PNG file format. Today's all commonly used browsers can display PNG file format correctly.

PNG is a bitmap compression method for image files. PNG supports 16.7 million colors, it is lossless and also supports index color, grayscale, true color, transparency, and is streamable. It is thus the best compression method (better than GIF or JPEG) for use on the web.

File extension TGA description:

TarGA format developed by Truevision for their Targa and Vista products.

TGA is an industry standard designed for high-end paint programs and ray tracing packages on systems that use MS-DOS color applications. It is not as widely supported as PCX or TIFF formats nor in Windows-only applications. It was one of the first formats able to handle images with up to sixteen million unique colors. TGA files may be saved compressed (run length encoded) or not compressed.
